Travel burnout feels like a brick wall that stand on the way of a traveler. Unfortunately, it hits most travelers when they can’t see it coming. Fortunately, there are early warnings that you can watch out for. Here are some of the major signs of travel burnout.

Anxiety or High Stress

You might think that your anxiety or high stress level is purely due to your workload. However, it can also be due to your travel habits. Traveling to different places, not spending some time at a destination enjoying new sights or being on the road constantly can cause anxiety or stress.

Feeling Disengaged

Perhaps, you can’t focus on the task at hand. Maybe you always feel disinterested in what you or your travel companions are doing. This is a warning sign that you are about to get travel burnout.

Self-Criticizing and Negativity

Are you always criticizing yourself or having negative thoughts about yourself when traveling? If yes, travel burnout could be on the way. Burnout leaves most people with negative thoughts about themselves. Others have negative thoughts towards their travel companions.

Distracted Eating

If you always find yourself distracted while eating, you might be having travel fatigue. For instance, you could be using your tablet or laptop and eating at the same time. Thus, you can do one thing at a time. This is an early warning that travel burnout is on the way.

Binge Eating

When some people feel completely overwhelmed or stressed out, binge eating becomes a habit. So, if you realize that you are always eating or looking for something to eat while traveling, know that travel burnout is on the way.

Other signs of travel burnout include physical illness, increased consumption of alcohol, and constant worrying. If you notice these signs, know that travel burnout is about to strike. Therefore, slow down and try to resolve issues that might be stressing you to avoid travel fatigue or burnout.
